HMP WANDSWORTH

‹ RETURN TO OUTREACH

At HMP Wandsworth, a monthly drop-in clinic has been set up jointly between the Outreach Caseworker and the Community Care Caseworker at PAS. The Community Care Caseworker will have specific referrals, while the Outreach Caseworker will deal with queries on a first come, first served basis.

The first joint outreach session was held on 25 May, following several postponements. It had previously been cancelled at very short notice due to new “security procedures”, illustrating how postponements occur for reasons beyond the power of the Caseworker. When it finally happened, the first outreach session was a success, with the Community Care Caseworker administering six half-hour advice sessions to individual prisoners. A recurrent issue was the prevention of prisoners from accessing external hospital appointments.
