PAS Annual Panel Discussion
This year saw another enlightening and entertaining panel discussion.
Speaking on this years topic “Does the European Convention on Human Rights provide adequate human rights protection to UK prisoners?” were:
Nicola Padfield, Master, Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, (Reader in Criminal and Penal Justice, University of Cambridge)
Eric Allison, prison correspondent for The Guardian
Dirk van Zyl Smit, Professor of Comparative and International Penal Law, School of Law, University of Nottingham
Pete Weatherby QC, Garden Court North Chambers, Manchester
Christopher McDonald, former PAS client
Paula Harriott said many kind words about her experience of being a client of PAS and our one-time managing solicitor Matt Evans chaired the debate.
Many thanks to the Grosvenor estate for the use of the venue and to the Clink for catering the event. Thank you also to all of our volunteers for ensuring the smooth running of the evening.
Justice Gap have reviewed it here.
