Help us challenge Legal Aid cuts for prisoners

As you may know, in January Prisoners’ Advice Service and the Howard League for Penal Reform are challenging the legality of the cuts to legal aid for prisoners in the Court of Appeal.

To ensure the case does not impact on our front-line services, we need to raise £25,000. So we’re crowdfunding for the case and we need your help!

• Please donate £35 or whatever you can to our case here. Your support will help us bring the case and be hugely appreciated.
• Email the link to three colleagues, friends or family members who might also support our case.
• Post the link to Facebook and Twitter asking your followers to support us. Example update: “I’ve just pledged to @TheHowardLeague’s case! You can support their opposition to legal aid cuts for prisoners too: crowdjustice.co.uk/case/prisoners

As you may know, since the cuts to legal aid came into force, violence and self-injury in prison have risen to record levels. More than 270 people in prison have taken their own lives. Calls to our charities have increased by almost 50 per cent. We have to take action to reverse the cuts.

Equal access to justice is the hallmark of a civilised society, and it’s this belief which is driving us forward to take this case. Thanks so much for your support.

The deadline for giving is 18 January 2017.
