CLIMATE EXPERTS WARN THAT VICTORIAN PRISONS ARE MOST AT RISK OF OVERHEATING
Climate experts have warned that rising temperatures in England and Wales will threaten the welfare of prisoners, prison staff and visitors alike.
Overheating is most likely in Victorian-built prisons, with researchers estimating that they could suffer severe overheating between 100 and 120 days per year if the climate warms by a projected 4 degrees.
Researchers recommend immediate planning for the installation of cooling systems, ensuring that necessary changes will not be implemented too late in the day.
